Description:

If you need to evacuate, having a plan in place for you and your pets will reduce your stress and help keep you and your furry friends safe. 

✅ Because many public shelters and hotels do not allow pets, identify places in surrounding cities/towns ahead of time that accept pets or make an agreement with a friend or family member who can take all of them if needed. 

✅ Have your pets and animals microchipped. Keep your address and phone number up-to-date and include contact information for an emergency contact outside your immediate area.

✅ Plan for how you are going to transport your pets. Purchase a crate/carrier and make sure your pets are crate-trained. If you don’t own a vehicle, make an agreement with a nearby neighbor or family member who will give you a ride.

If you own large animals, train them to load them onto a trailer and have them properly identified, e.g. (microchip, ear tag, tattoo/branding), and carry non-nylon halters such as cotton and leather.
